What are the recommended dimensions of an image in a photo contest?
We usually recommend users to submit high resolution images to the Photo Contest which are at least 480px by 480px in size. This size is necessary for an open graph action to be created when a user enters a contest with an image of that size. This is the reason why we have the following text in place on the "submit an entry" page:
For more information on how open graph actions are created, refer to point 3 - Timeline Actions here: How will enabled user permissions affect the end user's navigation?
The submitted images are resized to 390px width on the individual entry page . The height is usually adjusted to show the image proportionally by keeping the width to 390px.
However, if you click on the "magnifying glass" icon at the bottom left of each photo on the individual entry page, you can get the original photo which was submitted by a user.
You can download all the submitted photos in the Reports section which can be accessed by clicking the "reports" button on your dashboard. The bottom of this page named "Excel export" allows you to download all the submitted photos using the link - "To download all photos, click here" in their original size.
Once on the "Download all submitted photos" page, use the "Save As" or "Save Page As" feature in your web browser to save the web page to your hard drive. Use the "web page complete" or similar option while saving, so that all of the images are downloaded, as "PNG"-type image files.
What are the supported file types and size of the image submitted to a photo contest?
We accept all the common image file types: gif, jpg, png, bmp, tif and the file size should be under 5MB.
We recommend avoiding the use of any international characters or odd symbols as Unicode in the image file name as it is not currently supported.
For entries submitted via Twitter and Instagram:
Twitter only allows 3MB files to be uploaded. However, we also support other third party image hosts (twitpic, yfrog, twitgoo, twitrpix and lockerz), and they may have different size limits.
As for Instagram entries, we pull in the default file size and file format that Instagram saves all entries as.
For more information on entries submitted via Twitter/Instagram, refer to the following : How do I enable Twitter/Instagram submissions for Photo/Video Contest?
What are the supported file types and recommended size of a video in a Video Contest?
The supported video file types are: asf, asx, avi, divx, dv, dvx, m4v, mov, mp4, mpeg, mpg, qt, wmv, 3g2, 3gp, 3ivx, 3vx
The maximum file size limit for a video is 5GB. However, the success of a video being uploaded is dependent on the user's internet connection. We recommend that video file sizes remain around 50MB or less.
For Twitter apps, the recommended image width is 510 pixels wide. There is no limit to the height of the image. If a larger image is used, the height will adjust accordingly, keeping the width fixed at 510px.
